Why does it say “us” in the title instead of just “me”?
Well, that’s because there are two of “us” that runs this blog.
First, I’ll just introduce myself…
I’m Teacher Chelsey!
I’ve been teaching English online for several years now.
In fact, I’ve taught well over 10k classes thus far.
I have a Bachelor’s degree from UNCW.
I have 10 fur-babies and likely will adopt in more as time goes on.
Teaching online became a full-time gig for me when I realized that I wasn’t the biggest fan of going to a “normal” job.
Don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I just thought that surely something online would be possible with my degree.
After lots of looking and reading and honestly thinking that most online “opportunities” were actually just scams… I found VIPKid.
There were a few people that I had seen on YouTube and on Google that were teaching through the VIPKid platform and I eventually applied.
Soon enough, I was hired.
Now, years later, here I am still on the platform and teaching around 30-40 hours per week.
However, it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows.
There are lots of changes within the online English teaching community as a whole that takes place every few months it seems.
It’s not as easy as “getting hired” and making a full-time income (although some referrers will make you think that).
Long story short, I do still love it and highly recommend it, but I wanted to create a resource online for people to find out honest and experienced information.
This blog will be focused on teaching English online resources, but will also have content created for the new wave of parents who are either teaching their children via homeschooling or who are now enrolling their children into online based classroom structures.
Oh yeah, who is the “us” again?
Well, that would be my husband.
He is the content writer for a lot of the content that will be going on here as well.
The posts will either be by him (he’s been with me since well before starting online and has researched just as much as I) or it’ll be by me.
Either way, we both exchange our thoughts on the posts and topics and do the research together as we curate content.
We’re BOTH glad that you are here and we hope that you can find the guidance you’re looking for through our site and the online teaching experience that I have.
Good luck and feel free to reach out to me on my Instagram @teacherchelsey if need be!
